Elm Class

Welcome to Elm, our mixed Year One and Two class. Where every child is known, valued and encouraged to shine. We start our mornings with ‘Wake up Shake up’, we find that having a dance is the best way to start they day… even the teachers join in!

 Our mornings are more formal but still active, engaging and hands-on, with a strong focus on early reading, phonics and building confident writers. We also enjoy our Maths work, learning through working in our books, singing songs and practical maths activities.

 In the afternoons, we enjoy COOL time (Choose Our Own Learning), where children explore their interests, alongside our wider curriculum with plenty of opportunities to explore, ask questions and work with others. In Elm we believe that mistakes mean you’re learning, and we celebrate every effort. Our class follows the school mantra, “Let all that you do be done in love,” which helps us show kindness, friendship and respect in everything we do.
